In 1989, PIACT Bangladesh in collaboration with the MIS Unit of the Directorate of FP conducted a training on Management Information Systems (MISs) for 1492 MCH-FP Program Managers.  The objective of the training was to build the capacity of MIS in terms of data collection, compilation, analysis and monitoring of MIS systems.  The categories of officials who received this training are as follows:

Computerized Management Information System (CMIS) at District Level

In 1993, the Directorate of Family Planning undertook a project with the technical assistance from UNFPA to establish the Computerized Management Information System (CMIS) at the district level. PIACT Bangladesh was entrusted for its implementation and to develop the capacity of the FP-MIS Unit to monitor the project activities for development of customized software, data entry and report generation.  This was one of the largest ever computerization projects in the country.

 

As part of the CMIS project, PIACT designed and developed database for FP-MCH systems covering 103 variables and conducted a series of computer training courses for the personnel of the Directorate of Family Planning and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.  Between 1993 and 1997, around 500 officials of different categories such as Divisional Directors, Deputy Directors, Steno-Typist and Clerks, etc. were given a 8 week training.  The computer training programs was carried out through the Information Technology Center (ITC), a division of PIACT.
