Mainstreaming of Sex Workers’ Children as well as Sex Workers

A.  Providing Safe Home Facilities and Education for Children

Mainstreaming through providing safe home facilities and education in an alternative environment has been a great success.  The sex workers (SWs) and their children are socially excluded, exploited and stigmatized.  Traditionally the female child of SWs opts for sex business and the male child gets involved in antisocial activities.  In mid 2000s, PIACT undertook a comprehensive program in Daulatdia brothel at Rajbari district of Bangladesh to address these issues through various interventions with the objective of mainstreaming them in the society.  The program was supported by the Department of Social Services (DSS)/UNDP.

The program included safe home facilities
